Tina & Chris’ Wedding at the Palmer House Stables in Solon, Iowa

“People are weird. When we find someone with weirdness that is compatible with ours, we team up and call it love.” – Dr. Seuss

When You Know, You Know

Tina and Chris knew they were right for each other after a handful of emails and a first date. Their love is something that fell into place right away after they met. After discussing taking the next step and moving in together, it turned into a conversation about getting married. Chris knew he wanted to marry Tina, Tina knew she wanted to marry Chris. A simple case of ‘when you know, you know!’ From there, it spiraled into thinking ‘Wait, are we engaged?’ to ‘Are you really asking me?’ to ‘Yes!!’ There was really no need for a ring right away because these two had already determined that they were getting married no matter what. However, they went ring shopping just to see and the next thing they knew, the ring was bought and they had a wedding to plan.

The Wedding Plan for a Busy Couple

Originally from Maryland, Tina is now an Associate Professor at the University of Iowa and the Director of the Biomedical Sciences: Cell and Developmental Biology Graduate Program. Chris is from Iowa and works as Principle Auditor for Rockwell Collins. He is also an Assistant Swimming Coach at Cedar Rapids Jefferson High School. Needless to say, they are quite a busy couple! Tina and Chris chose to go with The Experience package, which is all-inclusive and gave them peace of mind throughout the planning process. It also includes a full design plan which was really fun for us to plan. We love working with couples to organize not only the logistics of the big day but the aesthetics as well. We always keep in mind the couple’s interests, personalities, and goals for their big day.

Simple, elegant, ‘wine and dine’ wedding

The couple knew they wanted something simple yet elegant to enhance their beautiful venue, The Palmer House Stable. Being wine people, naturally using a gorgeous, rich wine color with a cream accent was their vision when they pictured what their wedding would look like. A nice sit-down dinner for their guests and wine pouring at the bars was just what they had in mind. The look was complete with lush florals from Unique Events and a beautiful scarlet colored couch from Borrow My Vintage for the couple at their sweetheart table. The night was filled with family, friends, dancing and (of course!) wine. The two ended their special day with big smiles and full hearts all thanks to the wonderful vendors that helped make the day go perfectly!
