When Your Heart Skips A Beat

Thea and Mitch met during an EMT class at the University of Iowa in 2016. Mitch says he fell for Thea that very day when she stood up to introduce herself in class. When Thea moved to New Orleans to start medical school, they dated long distance since Mitch was still finishing up his medical degree in Iowa City. While being separated, Thea realizes she only needed to be with Mitch and couldn’t wait to be reunited.

When the first COVID wave hit, Thea’s classes were cancelled and she moved to Iowa City for a few months in 2020. Mitch took her on a hike at Lake MacBride on April 5th, the very same hike they took on their first date. He proposed overlooking the beach where they had lunch together four years previously. Then, when they got back to the car both sets of parents were waiting to celebrate with cake and champagne. Thea doesn’t get surprised very easily, but this one took her breath away.

The Design & The Details

Thea and Mitch wanted to work with someone who could help design the decor and the feel of the event in original and creative ways. They booked The Assistant Package, and we helped execute a beautiful wedding that was a real experience for their guests, with every element playing a part in creating that feel. On the wedding day, we made sure the everything went smoothly so the lovely couple and their immediate family members could relax and have fun. It was a beautiful day to remember forever and we are grateful we were chosen to be a part of it! Congratulations to the new Mr and Mrs from all of us at Soirée!
