The Sweetest Love

You’ve never seen love as sweet as Tanesha and Jake Thomsen. These two met working at the bar, The Lounge, her grandmother owned while he was stationed in Dubuque, Iowa in the Coast Guard. She only worked on Sunday nights and he would come to talk to her while she made drinks for the regulars. It was only a matter of time before they made it official and their love story started. We noticed right away that Jake has a loving and calming effect for Tanesha. She instantly has the biggest smile on her face whenever he is around, and it was easy to see how wonderful these two are for each other.

A Short Timeline

The Thomsen’s chose “The Experience” package, which allows Soirée to help every step of the way. You’d never know, but they actually called us about 9 weeks prior to their wedding date with absolutely no plans at all. Jake and Tanesha live in Oregon but wanted to come home to her hometown of Dubuque to tie the knot. Through all our discovery questions, planning, design, and weekend-of assistance we made the process smooth and lots of fun for this adorable couple! The communication between us and the couple was mostly via text, e-mail, video chats, and phone calls. To pull off this task (in record time), Soirée gathered trusted and professional vendors made this process as easy as possible for the couple!

The Design

The bride’s love for cherry blossoms gave the wedding a unique touch. Hints of these flowers were throughout the ceremony and the reception. The cherry blossoms brought in gorgeous colors to the design plan. A combination of blush, raspberry, teal, white, and silver completed the color palette. This design plan screamed Pinterest, from the beautiful floral pieces to the simple light pink linens.

The Wedding Day

A rainy day didn’t stop the two lovebirds from having a wonderful wedding day. The wedding ceremony had an intimate space and wedding party which made the guest experience very personable. It was a joyful day at the Millwork Ballroom and Event Center in Dubuque, Iowa.

One of our favorite memories from Tanesha and Jake’s day was their silly photoshoot in the rain after the ceremony. The grabbed the cutest umbrella and shared a sweet kiss in the rain! What a precious moment that they will remember forever!
