Scott & Kolbi’s Beautiful Wedding
What a weekend! I was so happy to be a part of Scott and Kolbi’s wedding. They are one of the most adorable couples I have met, and they have a huge network of friends and family who truly love them. Scott and Kolbi met through EPIC, the local Iowa City young professional organization, but it was their appreciation for volunteering and serving the community that drew them together. Kolbi works for a local non-profit and Scott is a manager at a bank. In her spare time, Kolbi crochets, crafts, and scrapbooks – so of course this wedding had tons of personal DIY touches and special momentos celebrating their relationship. The ceremony was held at Kent State Park at the Bob White Pavilion overlooking the lake. It was a gorgeous day, 76 degrees and partly sunny. The ceremony was private – only for their closest 50 friends and family.
The letters FOREVER lined the sidewalk leading up to the shelter where the ceremony was held.
In lieu of printed programs, handwritten chalkboard frames made by the bride listed the bridal party members.
Antique screen doors and framed artwork was the backdrop to the couple’s ceremony.
Large round balloons with special notes from the bridal party members were used in a well wishing ceremony instead of the typical unity candle or sand pour.
300 additional guests joined the wedding party, friends, and family for the wedding reception at Wildwood Smokehouse and Saloon in the evening. The Guest Book and Gift Table was adorned with special pictures, flowers, and other personal touches. The favors were custom paper wrapped Lifesaver mints with a cute note “Mint to be” tied to each one.
Centerpieces for the family tables were antique washtubs, painted mason jars, gold branches, pearl strings, and fresh flowers.
Cafe string lights and a white lit backdrop transformed this two story venue. Wildwood Smokehouse and Saloon provided the catering including beef brisket, pulled pork, country beans, and yummy potatoes.
The couple decided to forgo the traditional wedding cake and opted instead for a delicious S’mores Bar. An antique chicken feeder was used to hold sternos, skewers were placed in painted mason jars, and an assortment of chocolates created this delicious feast. A painted chalkboard menu recommended s’mores recipes.
Thank you again Scott & Kolbi! It was so fun to work with you!
