Quyen & Diego’s Wedding at The History Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa
Meant To Be!
Diego and Quyen met in the library during graduate school. She was looking for a table in the cafeteria area for a quick lunch and Diego invited her to sit with him. They met about a month before she graduated and moved to Thailand for work, so it was an interesting start to their relationship! They spent three years apart as friends, before Quyen knew they had a serious and meaningful relationship. She made the decision to move to Bogotá, Columbia to reunite with Diego after he was convinced they were meant to be together long-term and put forward a compelling argument for her join him.
A Mountaintop Sunset Proposal
Shortly after Diego won the 2019 election as a city councilor for the city of Bogotá, the couple were able to take a rare, quiet trip together. As they traveled through China, Diego knew it was the right place and time. He proposed to Quyen at sunset after they hiked to the top of a beautiful mountain in the countryside.
The Long Awaited Celebration
Quyen & Diego’s original large wedding was planned for last summer in Colombia. However, like many couples in 2020, the pandemic caused a change of plans. Instead, they rescheduled a micro wedding with family and a few friends in Iowa, where Quyen is from. The couple booked partial planning with us through The Assistant Package to ensure all the details came together while they planned an Iowa wedding from Columbia. Their beautiful day included a Vietnamese engagement ceremony and a Western ceremony at The History Center.
Congratulations Quyen & Diego! It was a pleasure working with you to plan and organize your gorgeous celebration!
