Mackenzie & Keaton’s Wedding at Family’s Farm in Mount Pleasant, Iowa

Right Question, Wrong Time

Mackenzie and Keaton were lab partners in their Texas 8th grade science class when Keaton first asked her out. But, in typical awkward middle schooler fashion, Mackenzie responded with “this is weird” and he thought he struck out. However, little did he know, he just had to wait for the right timing – which for them was right after high school graduation. They reconnected and have been together ever since!

Meant To Be

The couple values family, loyalty, happiness, and laughter. These beliefs are what drew them together and keep them in love with each other everyday. They both really enjoy each other’s company no matter what they’re doing, even if it is just having a quiet meal together or going out on the town. Watching them interact, they are constantly giggling and throwing googley-lovey eyes at all moments of the day.

Date Night Surprise… an Engagement!

One of the couple’s favorite things to do together when going out in their home city of Austin is to have dinner and frozen margaritas at Chuy’s, a local restaurant. After dinner, they would often walk to Peter Pan, a mini golf course with giant sculptures made by local artists. One of the more prominent sculptures is a 20ft tall Peter Pan that just happens to be kneeling on one knee.

Keaton asked all of their immediate family to be hiding near the first hole (Peter Pan); waiting to surprise Mackenzie and booked a photographer to help capture the event in 2019. Mackenzie leaned in to grab their golf balls out of the hole after their play, and when she stood back up and turned around, Keaton was waiting on one knee. He says he honestly does not remember exactly what he said, because he was so nervous, but whatever it was, she said, “Yes!” That was followed by the surprise of all of their family and friends being there to celebrate. Eventually, the party moved to Chuy’s to round out the day mimicking their favorite date night, but in reverse order.

The Venue That Love Built

Now this is something you don’t see often. Her family was planning to build a new barn to store tractors on MacKenzie’s family farm in Iowa! They carefully planned the large steel building as the perfect fit for their “cozy, but not casual” wedding style. Decked out with three bedrooms, extra restrooms, fancy lighting, and a bar that even JoAnna Gaines would be jealous of – it was the perfect location for their ceremony+reception. With lots of guests traveling from out of state and lots of moving parts to bring in to their remote farm, the Bride and Groom choose our Experience Package to utilize our full planning and design expertise for their wedding.

It was a beautiful day to remember forever and we are grateful we were chosen to be a part of it! Congratulations to the new Mr. & Mrs. Addington from all of us at Soirée! Thank you for trusting us with such an amazing weekend!
