Falling in Love

Lizzie, originally from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Jon, from Moorhead, Minnesota were both living in North Liberty, Iowa when they met through mutual friends one night at the Fieldhouse Bar. As the bar slowly began to clear, they were still talking – mesmerized by each other’s company (aw!). Before bar close, he asked her to dinner that weekend! Fast forward a few years to August of 2018, Lizzie and Jon went on a fun trip to Colorado. On the last day of their romantic vacation, they ziplined to Seven Falls waterfall and climbed all the way to the top, where Jon proposed!

During the initial planning stages, Lizzie and Jon decided they needed an expert to answer all of their questions, give amazing advice, and help their vision for their big day come to life. In their words, “we are hoping to make this as low stress as possible. We want to have fun with the planning and just enjoy a great day with friends and family.” After looking through all of our different packages, they chose The Experience, our full-service planning and design package. We absolutely loved designing their wedding, from the deep green & blue tones to the gorgeous floral arrangements, it was so rewarding being able to bring their ideas to life!

Typical Iowa Weather

After it snowed in Iowa City days before their wedding, we decided to move their ceremony into the reception space. Thanks to their amazing vendors, we were able to figure out a plan for the day-of, making the transition from ceremony to reception flawless. The gorgeous archway we rented last minute is a new addition to Borrow My Vintage’s extensive inventory and nearly identical to the arch from the outdoor ceremony area. We used gorgeous couches and chairs in shades of royal and dusty blue along with hunter green from them as well, bringing the couple’s vision to life perfectly! Rapid Creek Cidery’s staff came out like super-fast ninjas to reset the tables & chairs for the reception!!!
