Layne & Ashtin’s Wedding at Small Grand Things in West Point, IA

Layne and Ashtin have known of each other since high school, but going to different schools they never really crossed paths. It wasn’t until Layne’s junior year of college that they officially met. That day happened to be the opening day of major league baseball, and Ashtin sent Layne a Snapchat of the Chicago Cubs game saying he was ready for the season. After about 5 days of talking about the Cubs, Layne decided it was time to change the subject to something else and they have been together ever since! To this day she isn’t sure how he got her Snapchat name, but is so glad he did!

First Date

Their first date was supposed to be to the races in Burlington with his friends, but Layne said she wanted to do something with just the two of them. Somehow they still ended up bowling with his friends, but the first date was still a success.

Ashtin said he knew Layne was the one when she went to the races with him in Farmer City (3.5 hours away) knowing she had to work a 10 hour shift the next day. A few years later, they got engaged!

They have a puppy named Harper who keeps them on their feet and completely entertained. Layne just finished pharmacy school and Ashtin works for an agricultural company.

Wedding Planning

Because Layne was in pharmacy school during the engagement, they hired Soirée for partial planning & design, The Assistant Package. It also was decided very early on to have a 2-year engagement, which meant that we didn’t have to worry about much when the pandemic shutdown everything in 2020 – we were still planning for a June 2021 wedding.

The weather was beautiful on their weekend and all the plans came together so well! Dusty mauve, white, and lavender colors complimented their beautiful venue perfectly. The day ran super-smoothly much to the thanks of Haley & Alexis who were the coordinators that weekend.
