Kelsey & Sean’s Wedding at Wilson’s Ciderhouse and Venue in Iowa City, Iowa

Slow and Steady Wins the Race

Kelsey and Sean have been together for 10 years. You read that right! Ten!!! They met for the first time in college at the University of Iowa, in the library. True story! As Sean said himself on the night of their wedding, their love grew in phases. The second he saw her, he knew he needed to meet her and from there their love grew and grew over the years. As they went through life together, they got to watch as their friends were getting married and having kids. Everyone, including Kelsey, was patiently waiting and wondering when Sean would pop the question. Finally, on a trip to South Beach, Florida, Sean got down on one knee and the rest is history. With a love story now 10 years in the making, this is still just the beginning for Mr. and Mrs. Phelan!

The Assistant Package

Kelsey and Sean knew what they wanted for their wedding day and they knew that they didn’t want to tackle it themselves. Since they call Chicago home, planning a wedding in Iowa wouldn’t be the easiest task to take on alone. The Assistant package was a perfect choice for them. Soirée was there to coordinate the day of the wedding and help plan and assist in the design with Unique Events in the months leading up to the wedding. A dynamic duo if you ask us! Their day was nothing short of amazing!

The Perfect August Wedding

The wedding for Kelsey and Sean was nothing short of amazing. Sunny and 75 during late August in Iowa is almost unheard of. But for this special day, that’s exactly what it was. The incredible weather was a great perk, but the rest of their wedding was even better. With amazing vendors to make their vision come to life, it was sure to be something straight out of a dream. Candles filling every table lit the room at Wilson’s Ciderhouse and Venue, gorgeous florals and greenery from Unique Events added the perfect amount of a romantic touch, and including personal touches like using her grandparent’s original wedding cake topper made the look complete. The design of their day was perfect, but the love these two have for each other topped it all. During the speeches, Kelsey’s dad said that he had asked each of them for three things that they admire about the other. Kelsey mentioned that she loves that Sean reminds her to put down her phone, live in the moment and enjoy each other, and he inspires her to never settle, but to always relax, it will all be okay. Sean admires that Kelsey has increased his love for country music, has shown him the luxury of that relaxing “Iowa Chill” vibe, and is inspired by her strong work ethic. This couple could not be more perfect for each other. Kelsey’s dad said it himself, she knew exactly what she wanted in a husband, and she found the best with Sean.

Congratulations to the happy couple! We loved helping to plan your beautiful wedding! All our best to you over the next decades of love!
