Kari & Scott’s Wedding at Usher’s Ferry in Cedar Rapids, Iowa

When You Know You’ve Found The One

Kari and Scott met each other online. As most of us know, this is a pretty common thing these days! But, it doesn’t always turn into the practically picture-perfect love story like it did for this couple.

When we asked them how they knew they found “the one,” they told us that Scott knew the second he opened the door the first time they met. How romantic is that?! Before meeting him, Kari knew just through their online conversations that he was someone special too. After their first time meeting in person, that confirmed with her that he really was amazing and she was looking forward to getting to know him more and hopefully building a future together.

The Proposal

Kari didn’t love the idea of a grand, public proposal and Scott knew that. However, he was planning to propose in January, which didn’t leave too many private options for them since it was the middle of Winter and naturally pretty cold outside. Luckily, Scott had a plan. Kari got to his house one day and when she walked in, she saw that he had folded napkins into the shape of hearts all over the floor, music playing and he was down on one knee with the ring in hand! Of course, Kari said “YES!” and that was it!

Bringing the Outdoors In

Kari and Scott had their wedding ceremony and reception at the beautiful Ushers Ferry Historic Village. They loved the big open windows and the idea of keeping the focus on bringing the beauty of the outdoors into the space. With a late-Fall wedding, they wanted to have things more dark and rich while also being simple, elegant and romantic. Including deeper blues, dark red raspberry and added pops of gold and ivory, the look of their wedding turned out absolutely perfect. Kari’s daughter and two sons were the only people in the wedding party which made for an especially sweet ceremony of joining two families into one. We absolutely loved being involved with this sweet couple’s gorgeous day and wish them many years of love and happiness!

Many thanks to the wonderful vendors that helped make this day so memorable!
