Emma & Mido’s Wedding at Bash in Des Moines, Iowa

A Love Worth the Wait (and the drive)!

Emma & Mido both attended Drake University during the fall of 2013. He was a year older than she, but they both attended Psych 101 that semester and met in their lecture. During the following three years, they had many mutual friends but not anything more than acquaintances. It wasn’t until crossing paths on a dating app, that they decided to see if there could be something more between them. It was revealed that Mido was two hours(!) late to their first date, but he swears he texted her multiple times explaining that he had to finish writing a paper before they could meet up. That date went incredibly well and Emma knew he was worth the wait.

Two months into dating, Mido accepted a job in Indianapolis and so they had seven hours of driving time between them. Emma then accepted a teaching position in Minneapolis, and their commute extended to ten hours! These two made it work though, by countless phone calls, Skype dates, letters, and care packages sent in the mail. Their love grew despite the challenging distance between them!

A perfectly planned proposal

The Clement family has a cabin on a beautiful lake in Minnesota and Mido knew it was the ideal place to propose to Emma. After coordinating with her parents a plan for them to take Emma out to dinner and away from the cabin, Mido traveled six hours, strung up lights on the dock, changed into his suit, and waited for them all to get home. Emma’s mom told her to go check out the “weird animal” on the dock. When Emma saw him standing with the ring, it was a huge surprise! It was the most beautiful proposal and such an amazing experience for the couple. Mido also hired a photographer to capture the event and those photos are the best to remember such an amazing moment. His parents came out from hiding after he proposed so both families could celebrate this joyous occasion.

Wedding Planning in 2020

Emma & Mido hired Soirée for The Assistant Package before the pandemic began. They knew that they wanted a wedding weekend that was going to allow them to have fun and be stress-free. They wanted all their friends and family to really enjoy the day too and not worry about a thing. Emma shared that she was nervous she would be anxious about everything if someone wasn’t there to take care of all the little details, and we were the perfect coordinators for the event.

Then, as everyone already is aware, the coronavirus caused so much turmoil and stress for all couples getting married in 2020. Instead of postponing, we worked with Emma & Mido to create the most perfect, Micro-Wedding, so that they could still get married in but with a smaller and socially-distanced guest count. We had a lot of changes to make, including sending out some Un-Save the Dates to guests. It wasn’t easy but the couple knew it was the best option for their small celebration. We worked closely with Catherine at Bash Events to change around the layout and dinner menu.

While it wasn’t the easiest journey, it was all worth it, because Emma & Mido got their incredibly perfect wedding day. We are so happy for the couple and thrilled that they had the best day. You can see them BEAMING in their photos below. Clearly, they were having a blast as shown by all of the images of the couple just bursting with laughter and smiles. As Emma shared in a review after the wedding, “Every possible problem was already thought about and all we had to do was get married and enjoy the day. As someone who gets stressed out easily, I can not recommend Soiree Wedding Planning enough to help ease the stress & anxiety that comes with planning a wedding!”

We were honored to get to make their wedding dreams come true. Congratulations to the happy couple!
