Emily & Zach’s Wedding at Wilson’s Ciderhouse and Venue in Iowa City, IA

Drum Roll, Please

It was the first day of their freshman year at the University of Iowa, and Zach and Emily had just met at band camp. They both played the trumpet in the Hawkeye Marching Band, and once they met, they were best friends for life.

They can’t pinpoint a time when they knew they had met their match, but for as long as they had been together, there were always special times filled with happiness, laughs, and love. As time went on, Emily says it became more obvious that they could make it together since they cared about each other so much.

The Proposal

On a vacation they took to Acadia National Park, they were watching the sunrise at the top of Cadillac Mountain. When the sun began to rise, Zach led Emily to a more secluded area on top of the mountain and dropped down on his knee and proposed.

Planning with a Smile

Zach and Emily are the happiest people. The biggest theme throughout the planning process was that they wanted everything to be fun and happy, and they wanted to ensure nothing felt stiff or too elegant. As long as their guests had a great time and the day was full of happiness, they considered the day a success.

Since they chose their venue because of its beauty, they wanted to keep decor at a minimum. With the decor they were envisioning, however, they wanted to match the naturalistic tone of the space. Blush, blue, and ivory details brought a soft touch of color to this nature-themed wedding. Tables were draped with greenery and accompanied by a mixture of large candles and small votives with tea lights to give the venue a romantic atmosphere.

Hey Honey, I Do!

This lovely June ceremony and reception took place at Wilson’s Ciderhouse and Venue in Iowa City, Iowa. With a small wedding party of two bridesmaids and two groomsmen, the couple share their nuptials with friends and family.

A good time was had by all. Especially because they were drinking a custom beer from Backpocket Brewing called “Hey Honey, I Do!” This yummy honey wheat ale was the perfect refreshing drink for guests on a warm day. Sarah at Allegra even designed the label that went around each can so it matched all of the wedding stationery!

Congratulations Emily & Zach! We loved planning your wedding and were so happy your day was amazing.
