Emily & Blake’s Wedding at the Millwork Ballroom in Dubuque, Iowa

Where It All Began… With a Swipe Right

Both Emily and Blake moved to Chicago after college to begin their careers. She works in real estate and he works for a hospital system. and met through one of the more common ways to meet nowadays: Tinder. Swipe right is the best move! After some time of talking, Blake finally convinced Emily into letting him take her out on a date to Old Crow in Wrigleyville. They found out that not only were they both originally from Iowa, but they also have a ton of mutual friends and even had a cousin of Blake’s who graduated high school with Emily. Crazy coincidence. It almost was like it was meant to be. From there, they dated for five years celebrating each other’s personal and career achievements, getting know each other’s families, and growing as a couple.

A Fairytale Proposal

Emily was helping her parents plan a family trip to Lake Tahoe, CA for their 33rd wedding anniversary. With all of Emily’s family planning to be there, Blake secretly invited his parents to join so they could all share the special moment he had planned. While at Lake Tahoe, the family all piled into the vehicle for dinner one night and stopped at Sand Harbor Beach to “get a family photo to use for their holiday card”. Emily didn’t catch on at all, and little did she know that there was a picture perfect proposal spot with an archway made of birch, decorated with flowers. Blake got down on one knee and Emily said YES! All his plans actually were featured in an article on How They Asked by The Knot. You have to read it! It’s gorgeous!

The Essentials Package

Emily’s reached out to Soirée Wedding Planning, because she wanted to ensure everything was picture perfect for her day. She didn’t want to have to worry about any of the execution details or have her mother worry either, for that matter! We jumped in to help with the planning and ensuring everyone involved in the wedding was able enjoy the day itself.

The weekend went perfectly! The day before the wedding, we helped the priest to run the ceremony rehearsal at the church. We also set up some of the decorations at the reception space because we could get in early. Literally, the wedding day was PERFECT. We’re so excited to share these pictures with you so you can see the exciting celebration. Congratulations to Emily & Blake! Thanks for choosing Soirée to coordinate your wedding day.
