A Colorful Wedding Celebration at The Heights in Iowa City

From the Beginning

Cydney and Kyle came to Soirée when they were just starting to plan their wedding. They had toured The Heights, had a couple of potential dates in mind, and had a general idea of their guest list and colors, but weren’t quite sure where to go from there. They knew they wanted someone to help guide them through the entire process, from knowing what to book and when to making all of the decisions that come with planning a wedding. From those first conversations, we helped Cydney and Kyle build their wedding plans from the ground up. We worked through vendors, design, logistics, timelines, and all of the little decisions that can quickly add up during the planning process. It was so fun to watch their ideas take shape and eventually see everything come together on their wedding day.

The Wedding Day

Cydney and Kyle’s wedding day was one straight out of a movie. Cydney started the morning with a slow, relaxed get-ready, surrounded by some of her favorite people. It was the perfect way to ease into the day before all of the festivities began. For their ceremony, Cydney and Kyle chose to have an intimate celebration with their closest family and friends at the Old Capitol in Iowa City. Located in the heart of the University of Iowa campus, the historic Old Capitol was such a meaningful setting for this couple and their families, who are all huge Hawkeye fans. With its beautiful architecture and iconic dome, it was the perfect backdrop for such a special moment — and such a fun way to incorporate a place that is such a big part of their lives. Behind the scenes, our team worked to make sure every detail came together as planned. From vendor communication and timeline management to coordinating the ceremony and keeping everything moving throughout the day, we handled the logistics, so Cydney and Kyle could simply enjoy being married and celebrating with the people they love.

A Reception Full of Fun

If we had to describe their reception in one word, it would be FUN! From the beginning, their celebration was full of colorful personality. They chose serving stations for dinner, giving guests the chance to try a little bit of everything, and their live band kept everyone on the dance floor throughout the night. And, of course, because Cydney and Kyle and their families are such big Hawkeye fans, they had a very special guest make an appearance — Herky! It was the perfect addition to a reception that was all about celebrating, having fun, and making memories with their favorite people.

It was so special to work with Cydney and Kyle from the very beginning of their planning process and then see all of their ideas come together on their wedding day. A lot of planning, coordinating, and behind-the-scenes work went into making their day feel effortless, but that is exactly what we love about what we do.
