Alice and Abhijeet’s Wedding at Wilson’s Ciderhouse and Venue in Iowa City, Iowa
An Instant Spark
Alice and Abhijeet may have been a quick match on a dating app, but their first date was a sign of a long lasting connection. After talking for six-hours straight over food and lots of wine, the server kindly had to ask them to leave because the restaurant had closed. Alice said the next morning at work was rough, but she had a smile on her face the whole day.
A Long-Lasting Connection
It didn’t take much time before their shared values and visions of the future led them both to know they had found the one! Coming from very different cultures has had its challenges at times but they have got this! Abhijeet is from India and Alice is from Iowa, and over the past 4 and a half years, they have both managed to stay grounded by their common values, such as the importance of family. Alice shared, “To love me is to love the most important people in my life and that he has done!” When Abhijeet met Alice’s family she was immediate impressed at how effortlessly he was himself and built relationships with all 15 members. And, of course, his bond with the most important family member: her Great Dane “daughter” dog, Hilton, is amazing.
A Sedona Proposal
When Alice’s parents met them for a vacation in Sedona, Alice admitted she was a little suspicious Abhijeet might have had something up his sleeve. When she asked him why brought a whole backpack along for a short hike, he simply responded “For water.” She went along with it and her suspicions were proved true when a “picture break” turned into a proposal. Abhijeet got down on one knee and with tears in his eyes asked Alice to marry him. Alice happily said YES! They immediately celebrated the great news with her parents back at the AirBnB and his parents over the phone in India. Sharing that happy moment with family is a memory that they said they will always remember and hold close to their hearts.
One Big Party
Despite a challenging journey of planning a wedding during the beginning of the pandemic, Alice & Abhijeet knew that the only way to get the day they envisioned was to postpone their May 2020 wedding to May of 2021. We helped with moving their plans, because they had chosen our Assistant Package. When the wedding day came finally, it was an amazing and beautiful experience at Wilson’s Ciderhouse and in Iowa City. Their Indian and American cultural fusion ceremony was on a gorgeous spring day. Their first date may have been cut short after 6 hours, but they made up for it with a day long celebration for a love that will last a lifetime.
Congratulations, Alice & Abhijeet! We just saw the announcement that a new baby will be joining you next year! Congrats and best wishes to your growing family! It was a pleasure working with you and we are so happy for you! xo!
